Winona Fighter Take Over Florida: Two Nights of Punk Mayhem, Sweat, and Celebration

Winona Fighter ripped through Florida with two back-to-back shows — first at The Wooly in Gainesville, followed by a tune-up for the 2025 Warped Tour at Will’s Pub in Orlando. Winona Fighter is touring across the US in support of the album, My Apologies to the Chef.

The Florida run showcased the band at their best: fiery, hilarious, unrestrained, and deeply connected to the crowd. Gainesville’s Wooly brought that tight, intimate, sweaty magic — the kind of venue where the crowd is practically on the stage and every lyric hits like a personal confession screamed into your face. Fans matched the band step-for-step, shouting along, pushing forward, and feeding off the raw energy Winona Fighter always seem to conjure effortlessly.

I had the pleasure of sharing some time with one special fan in particular at the Gainsville show. Just turned 8 years of age, this young rocker (name withheld at parent’s request) not only matched the energy of frontwoman Coco Kinnon, but joined her several times on the mic as Coco played into the crowd.

Orlando carried that momentum straight into chaos. Will’s Pub was packed with Warped Tour fans who somehow refused to be tired, turning the After Party into a celebration that felt half tiny-club show, half festival finale. The band leaned into the madness, tearing through tracks from their critically acclaimed album with even more force than the night before. Every song became a communal chant, every guitar swing landed with intention, and the entire room seemed to shake under the collective weight of the crowd.

Despite the intensity, both nights were full of warmth — little moments where the band were being their authentic selves, letting us feel like we were watching friends, not rock stars. One could feel how much their music means to them. The Florida shows weren’t just performances; they were gatherings. Messy, chaotic, joyful gatherings — punk in its purest form.

If these sets proved anything, it’s that Winona Fighter aren’t just riding the momentum of their deluxe release…they’re building a live reputation that grows louder at every stop. Having had the pleasure of first covering Winona Fighter at SXSW in 2024, and several times in support on tours with acts celebrating decades of rocking, one thing remains consistent in their performances – this group has all the energy and talent to headline in arenas in the near future.
