The Used 25th Anniversary Tour

The Used took Chicago by storm during their 25th Anniversary Tour. The tour graced Chicago for three consecutive shows, each show having performed one of three albums in its entirety each night.

SHOW 1: THE USED (SELF TITLED) ALBUM

The first night of the back-to-back-to-back shows in Chicago, The Used played their debut, self-titled album before a sold out crowd. With a massive white sheet fronting the stage, a short recap video played on a depiction of an old tube television with the a piece of masking tape on the bottom of the unit with the band’s mantra written across, “best band in the world.”

The curtain dropped and the and the high-energy music fans have come to expect over three decades of live performances rang through the concert hall as both fans and band members began to jump in rhythm to the driving beat.

SHOW 2: IN LOVE AND DEATH ALBUM

In another sold out show, The Used began night two in a similar fashion. The large white curtain played a new video highlight, chronicling the time after the debut album and leading into the release and tour of “In Love and Death.”

Just as the night prior, the curtain dropped to driving drum beats and screams from lead singer Bert McCracken. The energy from the crowd was noticeably heightened from the first night, the floor in the photographer pit bouncing as the crowd jumped and echoed every lyric of “Take It Away.”

The other noticeable difference was the changes to the set design. The staging and lighting itself looked basically the same, with the addition to The Used’s iconic hanging heart behind drummer Dan Whitesides. Just like the intro video, the design was just different enough to provide a compliment to the music of this album, but also gave repeat fans a different look – and there were plenty of noticeable returners from the first night.
