Following months of growing anticipation, and several lead-up singles, rising pop trio Moody Joody today announce their forthcoming debut album Plain Jane, due on October 30 via Photo Finish Records. Through this album, Moody Joody explores the evolution of self, owning your humanness, self acceptance, nostalgia and reflection. In short, Plain Jane is the culmination of years of emotional and artistic labor for Moody Joody. In celebration of the announcement, Moody Joody will perform in New York City at Nightclub 101 on Wednesday, July 8, giving fans an early opportunity to experience the band’s new era live.
“We have been talking about this album and have had the title/concept since the early days of the band in 2020,” says co-lead vocalist/guitarist Kaitie Forbes. “For us to finally be putting it out into the world feels so surreal. It’s a concept album full of highs and lows, twists and turns, the pursuit of chasing your dreams and finding your most authentic self along the way. We have put so much thought and intention into every detail and my biggest hope is that someone somewhere will hear it for the first time and feel completely seen and less alone. And then continue to turn back to it whenever they need comfort- just like I have done with my favorite albums. We cannot wait for the world to hear what we’ve been pouring our hearts into for a long, long time now. We’re so excited for everyone to meet Plain Jane.”

“Plain Jane was born from a place of longing to take up space, unapologetically and boldly as a woman in the world,” adds co-lead vocalist/synth player Kayla Hall. “The album takes you through a musical and deeply personal journey of the trials and tribulations of what it looks like to build a life of your own and what life looks like after you burn it all down to get there. This album is equal parts sugar and spice. Grit and glimmer. We want to give our fans a world to get lost in, to see themselves in, something that makes them feel understood.”
In conjunction with the announcement of their debut LP, Moody Joody today releases their latest single, “Suburbia.”
“You traded me in/for the American Dream/right before you hit/the silver screen/you traded your life for suits and ties/settle down for a wife/maybe a secret life,” Forbes and Hall sing over rhythmic synths about trading in your creative ambition for the societal “American Dream.”
“It feels so right to formally invite everyone into the world of Plain Jane with this song,” multi-instrumentalist/producer Andrew Pacheco says of “Suburbia.” We wrote it in January 2025 in Brooklyn with Scott Harris (Role Model, Shawn Mendes, Justin Bieber) and immediately could tell it was emotionally a cornerstone of the record. We’ve been dreaming up this album since we started the band six years ago, and can’t wait for everyone to hear it in full this fall.”
It’s been a thrilling past year for Moody Joody as the band continues to build strong momentum with their recently released singles “Little Blue House,” “Loretta’s Last Call,” and “OOPS!”. The new era has received support from Sirius Alt Nation and major playlists including Amazon’s Breakthrough Pop, Spotify’s New Music Friday, All New Pop, Pop Sauce + much more! So far, Moody Joody has amassed 21M+ global streams, also earning coverage from Rolling Stone, Notion, The Fader, MTV, Ladygunn and more. They have also performed at SXSW and Austin City Limits and toured with The Maine, Smallpools, Misterwives, and ARIZONA.
